Even if you are not planning on checking out any equipment or using the many resources the Fredonia Information Technology Services center (ITS) offers, you are still going to need to feel comfortable with this department, because they are essential to any student’s success.
To get a better idea of who they are, here is their mission statement:
“In keeping with the State University of New York at Fredonia vision, Information Technology Services (ITS) at Fredonia will provide the environment and support of the technology needed for teaching, learning, and administrative functions.
Information Technology Services primary goals are to:
· Provide a stable, secure, and user centric computing environment.
· Collaborate with academic and administrative colleagues in identifying and supporting the use of technology
· Maintain and improve our expertise to support the evolving campus technology needs.”
ITS serves as resource at which anyone from the SUNY Fredonia community can go and receive help with technological resources, get questions answered regarding technology used on campus, and use the resources they already possess, among many other things.
You need help accessing OnCourse or Your Connection? Contact ITS. You need to rent a video camera and microphone to complete a project? ITS should be your first stop. You have a question about your print allotment for the semester? ITS has the answer.
Being a communication major, I have had to work with ITS on a few different occasions to borrow equipment and they have always been helpful and happy to work with me (as long as I got everything back on time).
After you leave Fredonia, you have to pay for very expensive equipment that ITS can provide you with now. Plus, they have the information you need to access the websites you will be accessing everyday as a student. Use ITS and you will find success.
