An extension of ITS, ResNet is a technological support office, but specifically for residence halls. Located within McGinnies Hall (which is a residence hall itself), you know it’s time to stop by if you need help with:
Campus Access Control Services (when your FredCard doesn’t let you enter your residence hall or any other building you are supposed to have access to)
Internet Service Connectivity Support
University Owned Printer Support
University Owned Computing Software Support
Personal Computing Device Repair
Residence Life Multi-media Equipment Reservation & Checkout
Residence Life Smart Classrooms
Residence Life Event Management Digital Signage
University Owned Computing Hardware Support
Student Printing Service
On top of all of this, you can even request support without going into the office. If you just have a quick question or want to check the progress on a previous request you have made, ResNet has the Tracker Help Center which allows you to do those things just by using your eservices username and password.
Not only is ResNet a convenient stop if you are having technology trouble, when you go, you are also helping your fellow students gain real-life experience. Each semester, seven students are employed to work there as “ResNet technicians” to see what a career in IT really looks like.
So, ResNet is a place that you should feel comfortable going to. I had to go for trouble with my FredCard my very first day on campus as a freshman, and everyone was very laid back and patient but also extremely professional. Now, I live in McGinnies and see the staff almost every day. I know that if I am having any sort of technological problems, they’ve got my back.
